Variant of Ludwigia repens from North America with beautiful dark red leaves and stems of 20-50 cm length and 4-6 cm width. It gives a beautiful colour contrast to the green shades of the aquarium. Should be planted in larger groups to increase the decorative effect, and regular pruning promotes more bushy growth.

Very often "water roots' form on the stems, but these can be carefully removed if you think they are disgraceful. The plant only makes small demands, but if it does not get light enough the lower leaves fall off easily. At higher levels of light, however, the colour becomes more intense.
