From Southeast Asia comes this sturdy stem plant, which reaches a height of 15-30 cm and a width of 2-3 cm. The Latin name means "the plant with the round leaves," but it only covers the swamp shape that has circular leaves. In the aquarium Rotala rotundifolia gets oblong, thin leaves.

Unlike other Rotala species, it is relatively undemanding, although it requires a lot of light to develop red leaves. It sets very willingly side shoots and therefore develops a dense bushy shape. This means that the light will be difficult to reach the lower leaves and therefore the plant should be cut frequently.
