Vallisneria sp. 'Gigantea' is a troubled and fast-growing plant for large aquariums. The plant originates from Asia and leaves become 50-150 cm long and up to 5 cm wide.

The leaves stay in most aquariums so long that they float in the surface. Therefore, care should be taken to stud the plant so that it does not take too much light from the plants that grow below.

The leaves are cool and strong, which is why they are usually not eaten by herbivorous fish. Vallisneria is easily propagated through runners, which become quite numerous if the bottom layer is nutritious
